Duhaj about Duhaj
I was born in 1982 in Lajosmizse, Hungary.
I’ve been drawn to visual arts and music since childhood, but painting has always been the constant. Whenever I could, I painted.
For a long time I didn’t believe art could support a life, so I earned a degree in economics and spent ten years in the hotel industry in a well-paid management role. Over time it became clear I was on the wrong path. I needed a way to express my creative imagination visually.
That's why I later graduated from art university and returned fully to my old passion - painting. Early on I was influenced by Hungarian masters of the 20th century—István Sándorfi, Zsolt Bodoni, László Nyári, and Tibor Csernus—and I learned to see through the discipline of academic painting.
Gradually, I found my own voice. Today I know I’m on the right path— on my own unique path. Free to let my imagination run wild and paint works that are popular with collectors worldwide.
My process is laborous and time-intensive; these works can’t be finished in a few days. But that’s exactly what I love about it. To build paintings slowly, with patience.
